Amy

I was born in Eastbourne and grew up by the sea. I had a magical childhood, which was filled with ghosts, fairies, witches and curious incidents such as trying to remove the school floor in pursuit of a magical land. (Regrettably I was stopped by a teacher before I got there). I also had 13 imaginary friends (4 ghosts, 4 dogs, one boy, one girl, one evil twin sister and a twin brother and sister), which meant I was never bored!

Nowadays I keep myself busy writing stories for children of all ages. My first book, Hodge the Hedgehog, appeared on CBeebies storytime and other books have been shortlisted for several book awards, including the Roald Dahl Funny Prize 2013 and the Booktrust Best Books Awards 2014.

Just in case writing books isn’t enough to keep me out of trouble, I also visit schools (I promise to leave the floor alone), produce the ‘Writing for Children’ pages for bestselling Writing Magazine, write short stories for Aquila magazine, run author events for children and writing workshops for aspiring children’s authors.

I’m a passionate supporter of baby charities and donates 5% of royalties to Tommy’s, ICP Support, Ickle Pickles and Bliss. I live in Devon with my husband, five young children and a sock goblin called Arthur.

I love the world of imagination – the world where anything and everything can happen. Where the ordinary is transformed into the extraordinary. After all, Magic is everywhere, if you know where to look…
