A big, snotty thank you to all the children who took part in the ‘Design-A-Robot’ competition, to celebrate the launch of ‘ Robo-Snot‘.
There were so many fantastic entries and wonderful ideas. Illustrator Paul Cherrill and I found it a real challenge to choose a winner!
But….a massive congratulations to our brilliant winner and fabulous two runners-up for creating the winning designs.
Here are the winning pictures:
We loved this colourful robot. There was a lot of attention to detail. There was also a lot of snot! Quite a few of the other entries had snotty robots, but this was the only entry which included…a tissue! We also loved the charger coming out of the robot’s bottom. Very thoughtful. Well done!
This brilliant robot was the most articulate entry. The attention to detail was marvellous, including rivets, teeth and beautiful colouring. Well done!
We had to give this fabulous robot first place. There were so many creative ideas. The robot was colourful and original. It also came with two mini snot-bots, which made us giggle. It was also the only robot to come with a name: SUPER BLOJER. Congratulations!
The winner and two runners-up were awarded a certificate and a copy of the book signed by both Paul and me. For an extra giggle and in the true sprit of the book, the winner was also presented with a packet of tissues.
It was wonderful to be with the children and see their obvious delight when they discovered they had won. A big thank you to Emma and Olivia at Scholastic for organising the competition and also to all parents, carers and teachers who have encouraged the children to enjoy their creativity and participate in the competition.
